Modifying my paddle stroke

I continue to work around radial tunnel syndrome. The injections in my forearms have delivered probably an 80% improvement, but underlying that I think I’m still dealing with some tendonitis at the elbows and wrists.

In this video I explain the modifications I’m trying to make to my stroke technique. The temperature today exceeded 100 degrees F, so when I say the heat was hot, I meant potentially dangerously hot. Not being one to want to experience heat exhaustion again, I backed way off and paddled easy the last 3 miles. In fact, even the water temperature in the South Rivanna Reservoir is so warm the algae blooms are starting again. These currently look like streaks of brick dust or rust forming on the water.

I’ve backed off in the gym in terms of total volume and weight, but I am still hitting the gym regularly using lighter weights and more reps while taking an extra day or two off per week.

Not the perfect solution yet, but the pain is less than it was several weeks ago.

I wish total rest was an option, but I think I would go out of my mind if I tried that.
