Wye Island Regatta 2019 Cancelled

I just received the following email from the Annapolis Rowing Club:

“Subject: Wye Island hiatus 2019

Body: Annapolis Rowing Club will not host the Wye Island Regatta in 2019, due to safety and logistical challenges. We will focus on events near Annapolis and will re-assess for 2020. If you have comments or ideas, please email trustee (at} annapolisrowingclub.com. We have enjoyed hosting this event at such a beautiful venue and with a diverse set of competitors over the years, thanks”

This is disappointing because now that I have a competitive open water surfski I was preparing to return to Wye Island this year to run with the big dogs to see how I measure up.

I guess I’ll have to find another September race to replace it.
