Little D on the Monocacy (April 25) in Frederick, MD with 6- and 12-mile options is open for registration on Paddlesignup.com
and
The Youghness Monster 22-mile race in Connellsville, PA on May 3 is open for registration on Active.com.
Both are awesome races for very good causes.
Little D on the Monocacy was originally named for little Danny Sullivan and now stands as a legacy to him to raise money for kids suffering with a terminal illness called metachromatic leukodystrophy. I’ve been proud to race in the race twice and am looking forward to starting my season there again this year.
The Youghness Monster race was conceived by Hansel Lucas of Performance Kayak, Inc. and raises money for their local volunteer fire department. I paddled in this race in its inaugural year when it was a 25 miler and met great people and had a great time. I’m not sure if I’m returning to it this year as I’ll have two local races on the same weekend and feel compelled to support my most local races first.
