My first experience with an inflatable kayak

Today I got to test the Coleman/Sevylor QuikPak K5 kayak.

I’ve seen a few inflatables on the water and have heard so much about them, I just had to try one out for myself. I think I am really going to like the portability of this kayak as I’ll be able to take it just about anywhere.

For around $100, I think this is a great kayak for a beginner who wants to try the sport before they sink a lot more money into better equipment. These inflatable kayak certainly do have a place in the kayak market. They are great entry points for those just getting started in the sport.

Try one and you’ll most likely be hooked on the sport.

  1. Hi, Dave. The first inflatable I used was a Innova Safari. Innova sold to Gumotex some years ago. The Safari wanted to spin around if you didn’t use the skeg, but was interesting to try on a few overnight paddle trips.
