I raced yesterday and this was my first time at this race and on this particular body of water so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
I paddled my West Side Boat Shop Marauder kayak, which in retrospect, wasn’t the best choice given the buoy turns and the weather/water conditions, but I was happy to be racing again. This was only my second kayak race of the year, and I haven’t had a chance to even be on the water again since my first race a few weeks ago at the Little D on the Monocacy race (I swear that race video is next on deck,) so I am probably less trained this year than ever before.
I wasn’t able to run with the big dogs in the lead pack, but I’m still very happy with the race I ran and now I know what I need to work on. I also learned a great deal more about this boat.
