I paddled the James River with Paddling Buddy Shelli today from Howardsville to Scottsville. It was a beautiful day and we encountered hundreds of people out on tubes and kayaks also enjoying this glorious day.
We were even treated to an impromptu cliff diving competition.
At some point we bumped into another group of local paddlers, The River City Paddledawgs, and we chatted with them for a while before paddling on. They seem like a great bunch of folks.
The last time I paddled into the boat ramp in Scottsville was during the 2017 James River Rundown, as it was the 70-mile mark and a mandatory overnight stay.
It was great to get there today under much more relaxed circumstances.
A huge shout out to the ACPD for policing our community and keeping nuisance drivers off the road. Thank you ACPD!
