I got out on the water after work this evening and managed to paddle over 11 conditioning miles before the sun set over the Blue Ridge mountains.
The wind picked up and I had a very choppy and wavy ride on my way back. At times I was paddling very hard just to make a little progress.
They are calling for heavy rains and storms tomorrow, so I squeezed into a tight window of paddling opportunity.
Tonight’s outing put me over 100 training miles YTD and I feel like I’m in the best shape ever going into a racing season.
We had a mild winter and there was only a period of about 3 days where my local reservoir was frozen, so I was able to log real miles all winter long rather than indoor, kayak ergometer miles.
Come join me in the following races the next three weekends:
4/27/19: Little D on the Monocacy, Frederick, MD
5/4/19: The Nelson Downriver Race, Tye River Depot, VA
5/11/19: The Rivanna River Race, Charlottesville, VA
I’ll see you on the water.
